October 11th Dominguez Hills bike race re-cap
First, I gotta lotta love from all the racers who attended, more than a few wondered why this has never been done before in So Cal since the weather permits it. In most states & countries, there is an off-season because there's snow on the ground, so it's physically impossible to train on the road.Second, while we were a bit short-staffed, I am EXTREMELY THANKFUL for those people who stepped up to assist us in our staffage shortfalls! Every little bit helps, Bill, Marco, John, Steve, Brett, Jim, Julio, & the entire crew that helped me set up the platform stands were critically needed.Third, it is very cool, even as a dink race promoter, to see almost the entire Bosco family come out to support Andrew. His team nailed it in the P/1/2/3. SC Velo did everything right, even the teammate/clown that had goldfish crackers in his pocket. To all of the racers that came out from Vegas---thank you. I know the drive sux, and I really do appreciate the sacrifices made to support these races. It's good to see people at my races having a fun time. Sometimes people, me included, lose sight of that-even with a hobby. Everyone was in a good mood, and no one showed up to the line all-serious. It was good to see Christopher Bennett drive from San Diego cuz he rode well in both of his races, and Kal showed up to race the Elite Men's category; he was another one ya had to watch! Chris Daggs loved it, and thinks it's a great place & time to bring his team to work on everything teams need to sharpen. SC Velo did it with 4 racers.People rode hard, and I know I did. I cramped 53 miles into it with 7 miles to remain: that doesn't happen when I race half-ass & sit in...or maybe it does and I'm just hella outta shape! Velo Allegro racer Ricardo just upgraded to a Cat. III and he beat me at the line for 6th in the Masters race, so he's already looking to upgrade to Cat. II! Billy Harris & Steve Gregorios had great rides, even though Billy burnt some matches chasing down my breakaway!

Chris, thanks again for putting these on---that was alot of fun: very little attitude out there, lots of new faces, and very clean racing. Everyone had a blast, and the level of competition was very good as the primes + the points got people going after it in a big way. Well done!
How about a NY Resolution Race on January 3rd, just to start the year off right?

Great race! Thanks for all the hard work. Your officials were on the punk kid's ass with the earbuds in.
Chris,
Thanks again from all of us in Vegas who showed up! We had a great day of racing and are definitely going to be out at the next two.
I submitted my resume and I'm waiting on the confirmation email to get my upgrade!
I can't make the race in November but the rest of our crew will be there. See you in December!

If you follow the anonymo's idea and do a New Year's race, I'll be there. New Year's Day ride, Fred Park, Crit... a nice 3 day stage race to start the year.
I remember when you did the November race back in 2002(?), it was rad.

Im already signed up for #2 and trying to convince my teammates to attend as well but they are concerned about the area surrounding the course... Any thoughts on racer's experiences that might help these pansies decide to get after it?
re: Concerns about the area surrounding the course: The course is in a nice, safe industrial/business park. Across the street is Cal State Dominguez Hills & the ADT Event Center (Velodrome). Races have been held on this course for about 10 years, and I've never heard of any incidents. Plus the LASD are at the race...if it wasn't safe, racers wouldn't keep coming to race here!!
To the person concerned about the area: the area is very clean, very modern, and zero potential problems. Sunday at 7am isn't exactly gang-banger time. We warmup in the surrounding office parks & I don't think I've ever seen a single car, much less any problems.
For the racers concerned about the course...their concerns are absolutely worthless. Tell those wizards not to be such cowards. We have two LASD deputies and never a problem....direct them to sack up or get outta the sport! :)
Thanks for the input re: location concerns. Already have one other rider signed up and verbal commitment from 2 more. Should have 4-6 riders in the Cat5 and 30+ 4/5
See you there!
