CBR just joined TWITTER
I'm not sure how this is gonna play out, but the idea came to me at Murphy's last night; it's something that Velo Allegro should have done awhile back. Velo Allegro should, by all counts, be a racing club that's social, as I was one of its founding members in 1988. It seems lately that it is now a social club. There's nothing wrong with that, but when a club goes from almost 200 members to less than 100, then something's gotta change...and that got me thinking.....Velo Allegro should be able to send tweets to its members and update them accordingly. Someone decided at Polly's yesterday that we were all gonna meet at Murphy's at 5:30pm & I thought...wouldn't that be cool if Velo Allegro could just tweet their members and say "Hey, we're gonna meet at Murphy's at 5:30pm, pass it along." Same thing with meetings, group rides (6am tweet-today's ride is Newport Coast), parties, birthdays, etcetera.
CBR's twitter account, http://twitter.com/CaBicycleRacing, just started - so don't be surprised if I got nothing to say most of the time and then something important once every two years. Today, I'm pissed off because Bank of America's not suppose to charge me for my checking account due to my 5th Wheel Trailer loan...I went in to fix it and thought it was fixed, and now they're charging me $20/month. I friggin' hate Bank of America and am so glad that most of my finances are with Wells Fargo.
Besides, people have gotten so lazy that email is now considered obsolete as people want information immediately. So now, I can tweet as I beat everyone on the Martin Howard Ride, the Velo Allegro Ride, Coffee Crew, Food Park, Como Street, the Simi Valley Ride, and every single race in the United States in 2010.

Yeah, VA is not the way it used to be. The "club" has fallen apart and lost its sense of direction. They have so much potential.... it's a shame.
